Fuel Rail Gauging Using SMAC Actuators 使用SMAC致动器进行燃料杆量测
A fuel rail made for GM needed to be 100% checked by the supplier before GM would accept the product. The dimensions of a fuel rail are very critical. If there is a problem a fuel leak will happen, as the latest fuel injections systems operate at 3,500 psi, this is much higher pressure than used in previous fuel rails. To demonstrate how critical the dimensions are at one point a rail was shipped with a human hair on one of the cups that caused a bad fuel leak in the final assembly. Now all employees must wear hair nets. This is a very clean manufacturing environment. The fit & location of all of the points inspected are critical on this high pressure fuel rail.

Previous machines that test fuel rails use LVDTs These machines need 28 LVDTs to check the cup and bracket height, centers and bore dimensions for one V6 fuel rail. This leads to a very expensive machine and one that will not give you the absolute position and a flatness measurement. It is also a machine that is very hard to adjust with new rails and different types of engine configurations.
